The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office oversees the Montgomery County Municipal Drug Task Force. The Task Force was formed in 2000 with the assistance of funding secured from the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General. The Task Force originally consisted of 165 sworn police officers; it has grown to over 450 officers.
The Municipal Drug Task Force serves as a central source of drug intelligence, which is disseminated throughout the fifty-three municipalities within Montgomery County. The Task Force also provides aggressive drug patrols designed to combat open-air dealers and violent street crimes related to drug dealing.
Various individuals serve to coordinate the Drug Task Force. Their fuction is to supervise all Task Force activity, maintain and disseminate drug intelligence, coordinate appropriate investigative assistance for law enforcement officers, and provide training as needed.
