NORTH PENN HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER HEATHER ZEO CHARGED WITH ENDANGERING THE WELFARE OF A CHILD AND CORRUPTION OF MINORS
Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman and Towamencin Township Police Chief Paul Dickinson announce the arrest of Heather Lynne Zeo for Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Corruption of Minors.
The charges against Zeo stem from an investigation which revealed that while she was a math teacher at North Penn High School, she engaged in a sexual relationship with a male student. Authorities assert that beginning in April 2009, Zeo began having sexual conversations and contact with a male student both on and off school grounds. The relationship also extended to phone calls and internet chats. The investigation revealed that Zeo had liaisons with the student on multiple occasions in her classroom. Zeo continued this improper conduct through the middle of May 2009.
Zeo also engaged in an inappropriate relationship via the internet with another male student at North Penn High School. This relationship consisted of sexually explicit internet chats and several invitations from Zeo for the student to come to her classroom when she was alone so that they could engage in sexual conduct.
When confronted with the allegations of inappropriate conduct with students, Zeo admitted to having a sexual relationship with only one of the students. Zeo is currently on suspension from her teaching position at North Penn High School.
District Justice Borek of Lansdale is scheduled to arraign the defendant at 2:00 pm on May 21, 2009.
The case will be prosecuted by the Captain of the Sex Crimes Unit Assistant District Attorney Samantha Cauffman and Assistant District Attorney Katherine McGill.
