Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman and Lower Providence Township Police Chief Francis L. Carroll, III announce the arrest of Teddy MARKS in connection with Burglary, Theft by Unlawful Taking, Receiving Stolen Property, Criminal Conspiracy, and other related Crimes that occurred within Lower Providence Township, Montgomery County.

On March 31, 2009, Lower Providence Township Police received a report of a theft of metal and tubing from Superior Tube, which is located at 3901 Germantown Pike, Lower Providence Township, PA.  Lower Providence Township Detectives began an investigation and learned that two men stole a forklift from Superior Tube and loaded the material onto a truck that was pulling a trailer.  The two men were captured on video tape entering and exiting Superior Tube’s premises.  It was later determined that the total value of the stolen items was approximately $195,488.00.

Through the course of their investigation Lower Providence Detectives contacted members of the Abington Township Police Department and the Wichita, Kansas Police Department regarding this theft.  Lower Providence Detectives compared a photo of MARKS with the picture from the Superior Tube video footage and identified MARKS as the individual who was driving the truck and trailer.  Additionally, a witness positively identified MARKS as the person driving the truck and trailer immediately after the theft occurred.

On April 17, 2009, a warrant was issued for MARKS’ arrest.  MARKS was arrested in Indiana and waived his extradition to Pennsylvania.  On June 3, 2009, Magisterial District Judge Benjamin R. Crahalla arraigned MARKS and set his bail in the amount of $300,000 cash bail.  MARKS’ preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 04, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at the Office of Magisterial District Judge Benjamin R. Crahalla, which is located at 133 Level Road, Collegeville, PA 19426.

Assistant District Attorney Steven Bunn, who is assigned to the Economic Crimes Unit, will prosecute the defendant.
